There are a series of three exciting, true books that your whole family could enjoy as read-alouds or that your 8 - 12 yr. olds could read for themselves that would enhance their learning of the science curriculum. They are especially good complements to Chapter 2 on whales. They are all written by Wayne Grover and their names are:
Dolphin Adventure
Dolphin Treasure
Dolphin Freedom
We've read the first two before but are rereading them with this science curriculum. They're based off the coast of S. Florida so our kids can likely relate to the setting.
