Planned activities for 2010 - 2011

• We're trying to update our contact info so if you weren't at the meeting (or are getting a new email address :)) please contact Stacey Diamond (staceyandblake@yahoo.com). She'll let you know what she needs.
• This year we'll be having Public Speaking Days once a quarter again. We've also scheduled approximately 1 group activity/ field trip per month with the exception of the months when we have public speaking. We've left 3 months open so if you still have an idea for the group, there's still room and time to propose that to the group.

If your family plans to participate in an activity, please contact the coordinator of that activity so she can plan more effectively.

Some other ideas that we're exploring as a group are:

• The Water Course at Clanton - an educational center about the wonderful world of water sponsored by AL Power. It was originally designed for K - 6th graders but I feel confident taking my 8th grader after talking to the woman today. It is self-guided so you wouldn't feel awkward with little ones younger than K. I was told to allow about an hour for the tour.
• Old Alabama Town
• the Mooseum in Montgomery
• Barber's Milk and Dairy in Montgomery
• Fort Toulouse in Wetumpka

If any of you would like another family or 2 to join you in a small group field trip to the following places, there are families who might be interested in joining you:

• Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery
• Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts
• McWane Center in Birmingham
• Birmingham Zoo

Musical/ drama opportunity K - 6th grade kids. First Baptist Church will begin this Sunday night (October 15) preparing for a children's musical called Acorns to Oaks. They'll practice 1 hr on Sunday nights from 5 - 6PM. The musical should be completely prepared by Oct/ Nov. They do not have to be members of the church to participate.
