Presentation Day 2008
Here are the details:
Who: Any child who would like to share something they've done/ created this school year.
What: The child may share any one thing they've created/ done at any time during the current school year. They should not prepare something especially for this get-together.
When: On Thursday, May 22, 2008 from 9 am- 1 pm (Bring a picnic lunch for your family)
Where: The D'Andrea home (Mimi and Granddaddy's house) at 1073 County Road 3307. If you need directions, please email me directly for them.
How: The time for sharing should be limited to 5 min. per child and no more than one project per child. They may share in whatever way suits you.
Why: The purpose of this is to provide a friendly forum in which the children can make a public presentation while providing us mommies with new ideas and inspiration for the coming schoolyear. It's also a kind of farewell till Fall.
Dress: Dress casually, coolly, and comfortably as we'll be outside the whole time.
***Also, bring towels and bathing suits for your children. We'll give them time to play in the sprinklers after the presentations.
Additional notes:
- Homemade ice cream will be provided for everyone.
- We'll present by families in an effort to bloster the confidence of more reserved siblings and to make it easier on the mommies.
- If there are any materials that have been a great find for you in your schooling this year that you'd like to share, please bring them for others to look at. We'll have a materials table for mommies to peruse. Please make sure to label yours.
- You may also want to bring a notebook and pen to jot down the names of books or other ideas you want to remember.
- We understand that younger children may not be able to stick with the presentations the entire time. We just ask that you take your young ones to the front yard to play if they need a break so that they aren't a distraction to others. We'll make sure to leave some toys out front for just such times.
- Please tell your children what to expect before you arrive so they will be prepared (see the following tentative itinerary)
9 - 9:30 Arrivals/ playing
9:30 Begin presentations
10:15 Play break for 15 min. if necessary
10:30 Resume presentations
11:00 Finish presentations and play
12:00 Picnic under the trees
1:00 Party breaks up
Final note: Though all of this sounds complicated, the intent is that this be an easy day where we can share a little something and enjoy each other. Please keep that in mind when making these preparations.
